25. CARE GUIDELINES

25. Design Message

Care labelling extends garment longevity and gives freedom in well-being.

25. Design Aim

I aim to design repeat-wear clothes for life that show respect for people and the environment.

Polyester with its durability, longevity and recyclability matched my design requirements for slow fashion. My concerns over polyester were overridden by the fact that made-to-order capsule garments don’t produce excess unsold stock and are classics for life.

My care labelling shows respect for the environment. Garments can be washed on a 30C low heat, they will line dry quickly and be virtually crease resistant. This reduces energy consumption in aftercare and makes polyester quick and easy to care for

Our climate change agreements and policies are our care labelling showing care for people as well as the environment. We are expecting people to scorch and wrinkle in temperatures and conditions worse than we would apply to clothing. We are expecting people to drink waste water we wouldn’t wash our clothes in. Human lives and longevity are being dismissed as worthy of less care than a garment.

The line is the aim of an empty washing line, waiting for equal care labelling for the well-being and longevity of all humans.
