20. OVERCOMING NICHE

20. Design Message

Modular circular design tackles the niche with sustainability at its core.

20. Design Aim

I design to highlight how the Social, Economic and Environmental impacts of design, manufacturing and sales have the power to serve opposing markets, which become niche when one benefits and the other harms.

I back international sustainable development targets which help guide our overview of the whole world and not just our niche areas. The big corporate wealth decisions are being made by people who are not having to live in the most extreme fallout conditions of climate change with resultant famine, drought, illness, homelessness and war.

I aim to design timeless clothes for all seasons. The neutral colours are inspired by Nature. The fabrics and clothes are kind to the environment, as they are long lasting, they line dry and are crease free.

The minimalism and compatibility of each garment ensures continued circular layering. The wearer has the freedom to make the look their own by adjusting, layering, building, mixing and accessorising.

I see the line as separating where we are randomly born, creating 2 niche areas, in or out of climate fallout. The circle round the line, represents the overviews incorporating both sides
