10. ASSESSING SAMPLES

10. Design message

Judgements must be neutral, evidence based and visible to all.

10. Design Aim

In designing I aim to evidence neutrality and transparency . I ensure my design ideas are judged against the criteria of different body types and requirements making the judgements neutral. My samples act as my evidence which I hold up and assess against different body types.

For this collection I trialled and compared the drape and movement of cutting garments on the bias and the straight grain for different body types. I wanted to get the maximum movement from the fabric but I didn’t want to compromise on other areas. I wanted the fabric to still skim and hold its definition and unique shapes.

The fabric, despite being double layered in my designs, still retained its soft drapes in both the bias and straight cut. In all designs the garments worked for all body types cut on the straight grain. The garments retained sharp neck edges , hems and skimmed the body more. However, the straight neck top on the bias draped into a cowl, a fluted hem and had slightly more movement which still worked more for a slightly closer drape to the body.

The line in my logo is the protective public mechanism overseeing my collection. This line checks that each one of my designs evidences neutrality and transparency.
