9. ASSOCIATIVE CLOTHES

9. Design Message

Assumptions about labels are random and take freedoms.

9. Design Aim

I aim to design using the fabrics and features worn by different groups of people and fuse them into new designs.

I aim to work with associative clothing. I set out to fuse identifiable features in some way in order to retain their original capacity to include. Any kind of unique, identifiable clothing can label groups which can include and invite a sense of belonging.

I also design to mix things up and create new unique identities. This symbolises for me the removal of assumptions which have the power to exclude people. I design to highlight how random it is that labels can cause exclusion, exile and isolation.

The line in my logo depicts for me a point where different styles are fused or able to gather as like minds and leave empty the areas of exile either side of the line.

9. Design Inspiration

Some of my design inspiration comes from YouTube.
